BIRDS OF CANTERA ORIENTE RESERVE

Collaborative project with the Ornithology Laboratory at UNAM as part of a medium-term bird monitoring initiative. The goal was to assess species richness in the Cantera Oriente Biological Reserve by recording and analyzing bird vocalizations using Song Meter SM4 autonomous recorders and Kaleidoscope Pro 5 analysis software from Wildlife Acoustics.

By focusing on how birds adapted to and constructed meaningful acoustic environments, I sought to open a space for reflecting on alternative life configurations—those that emerged in the open field of ecological research and gestured beyond human-centered spatial dynamics.
